Lucknow: Just 20 days before the first phase of polling in the country's largest state UP, a 'heavyweight' candidate withdrew his nomination. The name of this candidate is Avtar Singh Bhadana, who was the joint candidate of Samajwadi Party-RLD from Jewar seat. He has decided not to contest the election from jewellery. In his place Inderveer Singh Bhati has been made the candidate.

In the same Jewar assembly, RLD and SP alliance candidate Avtar Singh Bhadana has retreated from the fray. He will no longer contest from Jewar seat. Avtar Singh Bhadana has said to withdraw his name due to being Corona positive. However, even two hours before the time when Avtar Singh Bhadana's back came, he was campaigning on Twitter.

The withdrawal of Avtar Singh Bhadana from the same Jewar seat is being considered as a big setback for the Samajwadi Party-RLD. Avtar Singh Bhadana is counted among the great Gujjar leaders. In the 2017 elections, Avtar Singh Bhadana had won the assembly elections from the Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket, but resigned due to the farmers' agitation. The same 64-year-old Avtar Singh Bhadana, a resident of Faridabad, Haryana, has had a long political journey. He has been an MP from Faridabad thrice and Meerut once on a Congress ticket. After that, in the year 2017, he contested the Meerapur assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar on a BJP ticket and he could win the election with very less votes.
