New Delhi: A tunnel has been spotted near the Karol Krishna border outpost adjoining the India-Pakistan International border just before Republic Day. Security agencies are investigating whether the tunnel is new or old. According to sources, the tunnel was found 200 metres inside the International Border and the pillar number was found between 88-89. It is expected that an attempt could have been made to disrupt Republic Day by sending terror routes to the tunnel. Security forces have reached the spot and search operations are being carried out across the region.

Major tunnel found in 2021:-
In January 2021, a 150-metre long tunnel was seen in the Bobia area.
In August 2020, a tunnel was detected in Samba with the intention of infiltration of terrorists by Pakistan.
A tunnel was detected in Rigal village bordering the international border in Samba in November 2020.

Tunnel tactics to avoid impregnable monitoring of BSF:-
The BSF has developed a security grid with state-of-the-art equipment to monitor Pakistan's actions along the international border. CIBMS means terrorist infiltration from a comprehensive integrated border management system is continuously failing.
