Mumbai: Measles cases are increasing rapidly in Mumbai, the financial capital of Maharashtra. Seeing the situation worsening, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has geared up. According to BMC, the measles outbreak is spread across 8 wards of Mumbai. In this too, a maximum number of cases are from the M-East ward. Govandi and surrounding areas are included in this ward. 

To control measles cases, the Municipal Corporation has set up isolation wards in several hospitals for patients with measles symptoms. Kasturba Hospital located in Chinchpokli, Mumbai has the maximum number of 83 beds available in addition to 5 ventilators. According to the BMC, there have been 7 suspected deaths due to measles in Mumbai since the measles cases were reported in September. At the same time, 164 cases of viral and infection have been reported. Recently, 184 new cases have also been reported in Mumbai, in which the victims are likely to have measles. These people are facing the problem of body rash along with fever. After these cases, now the figure of suspected patients of measles has increased to 1,263 in the city. Of these, 647 patients are children aged 1 to 4 years.

With the admission of 12 new patients on Wednesday, the number of patients admitted to hospitals due to measles infection has increased to 80. A one-year-old child died in Mumbai on Monday due to measles. Municipal officials told that the girl of the Nal Bazar area was undergoing treatment for the last one week at the Kasturba Hospital run by the Municipal Corporation in Chinchpokli. The Municipal Corporation says that the matter of the death of 7 people due to infection is coming to the fore, but the exact reason will be known only after the investigation report comes.
