Big News! PhD degree will no longer be required for Assistant Professor's post

In the recent past, there have been major changes in many parts of the country, in the meantime, there has been another change in which appointment to the posts of Assistant Professors this year will not require a degree of PhD. The central government has taken this decision in view of corona infection. State that the UGC had required a PhD degree for appointment to the posts of Assistant Professors in Universities and Colleges in 2018. The UGC had given three years time to the candidates to complete their PhDs.

At the same time, the UGC had directed the Universities and Colleges to fix this criterion for appointment to the posts of Assistant Professors from the Academic Session of 2021-22. However, due to corona infection since last year, many candidates have not been able to complete their PhDs so far. Due to which they urged the Central Government to provide relief in these rules this year. The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) had met UGC officials on September 15 and raised the issue.

The same Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said, "The government has decided that it will not be necessary to have a PhD degree for appointment to the posts of Assistant Professors this year. We had received requests from several candidates who wanted to apply for the post of Assistant Professor this year but could not complete their PhD degrees.'' Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had asked all central universities to fill up posts of about 6,000 teachers by the end of October.
