New Delhi: A number of cases are being reported from across the country, while the Supreme Court on Friday delivered an important verdict on the rights of farmers. Many farmers in Noida will now get more compensation in lieu of their land. In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court has decided to increase the compensation amount by granting relief to the farmers in the 1976 acquisition of about 744 bighas of land in Barola and adjoining villages by the Noida authority.

The same Supreme Court in its judgement has said that compensation should be paid to the donors at Rs 28.12 per square yard. These lands were acquired by the Authority with the objective of setting up industries in 1976. At the time of the acquisition of land, it was decided to compensate them at Rs 4.628 and Rs 6 per yard.

At the same time, the petitioner rejected the claim of the landowners that the farmers had received more compensation for the acquisition in later years. So, they should also get compensation accordingly. The advocate appearing for the farmers argued that the farmers should be compensated at Rs. 297 per square yard. The farmers of Noida are very happy with this decision.
