Dehradun: There is good news for people travelling from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, to New Delhi and Kathgodam and by the upcoming Shatabdi Express. On the directions of the Railway Board, 16 major trains are being introduced by IRCTC from today. In addition, a catering facility for passengers of Dehradun-New Delhi Shatabdi Express is scheduled to be introduced from 5th December. With the onset of covid infection in the country by the Railway Board, the operation of trains has been completely stopped. As the conditions returned to normal, select trains were introduced but as a precautionary measure, all facilities including catering to passengers are going to be removed.
Now, the railway board and IRCTC have decided to restore catering facility in all express trains going to Dehradun Shatabdi Express, Kathgodam Shatabdi Express, Bhopal, Lucknow, Ajmer, Chandigarh, Amritsar as well as VVIP trains like Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express, Trivandrum Rajdhani Express, Chennai Rajdhani Express, Pune Duronto Express, Ernakulam Duronto Express, Varanasi Vandebharat Express, Gatiman Express.
New rates on food items have also been introduced by the IRCTC after the Railway Board restored the catering facility in trains. According to railway officials, passengers travelling in first-class coaches of trains are going to be given morning tea for Rs 35, breakfast at Rs 140, lunch at Rs 245 and evening tea at Rs 140. In the second class ac coach, morning tea will have to be paid at Rs 20, breakfast at Rs 105, lunch and evening at Rs 185 and evening tea at Rs 90.
