Ranchi: Under the Social Security Scheme, the Jharkhand government has abolished the obligation of APL and BPL cards in pension schemes. It has been named as Universal Pension Scheme. Old, disabled and destitute in each category above 60 years of age including widows, single, abandoned women will be covered under this pension scheme. The only limit for the beneficiaries is that they do not fall under the category of the income taxpayer. This news has been officially reported by the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security.

It has been said that all the beneficiaries will get a pension of 1,000 rupees in their bank account every month on the 5th of the month. The Government has made a provision of Rs.100 crore under the Universal Pension Scheme. The scheme has been implemented from 15th November. According to reports, a fixed number of beneficiaries were selected as per the target set in the pension scheme already run by the Central and State Governments. In such a situation, many needy people were deprived of taking advantage of the pension scheme.

Now, in a bid to give the benefit of the scheme to all, the Government of Jharkhand has decided to remove the earlier anomalies and link everyone who deserves it to the Universal Pension Scheme. The pension scheme is being implemented through the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security of the Government.
