Pratapgarh: The Allahabad High Court has said in a significant order that there is no crime against political parties making tempting promises to the public during elections. The court has also said that no legal provision has been brought so far against the parties not being able to fulfil the election manifesto by making tempting promises. Nor has any penal provision been issued against them for reneging on such promises.

Justice Dinesh Pathak passed the order on a petition filed in the High Court against the trial court's order refusing to file a case under sections of cheating etc. against BJP's 2014 elections, Amit Shah and others, who were party presidents in the 2014 elections.

In this regard, the High Court has said that there is nothing wrong with the lower court's direction not to file a case. He said that the BJP did not follow its manifesto in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Nor has they fulfilled their election promises made to the people in the elections today. According to the news, in such a situation, a case can be filed for cheating people. The High Court has said that political parties are not responsible for their promises under the Representation of the People Act. Now, in this regard, the court says that there is no legal provision against not being able to fulfil the suits.
