Patna: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar made a big statement on Friday, saying a liquor ban in the state is in Bihar's interest. He also said that alcohol is not a good thing. He said that if you drink alcohol, someone will give you the wrong thing, then death will happen. On CM De-addiction Day, he directed the officials that special attention needs to be paid to Patna to make prohibition effective. He said that if liquor is controlled in Patna then it is not more difficult in other places.
The CM said that if Patna is controlled, then the whole of Bihar will be controlled. CM Nitish Kumar also lashed out at those who talked about exempting the Liquor ban. He said such rhetoric is not fair. He said that all the persons had agreed to the Liquor ban and when they went to the opposition today, they are made statements in protest.
CM termed the Liquor ban as good for Bihar and said that there is happiness among the people after that. He also categorically denied the revenue deficit charges. He claimed that the sale of milk, curd, ghee, fruit vegetables has increased after the Liquor ban. Nitish recalled the days of starting the Liquor ban and said that initially the ban was imposed in rural areas but had to be implemented across the state within 5 days on the demand of the people. He said, "We are speaking from the beginning, no one will do anything, 100 per cent of people cannot accept it. Some people will make a mess. The wrongdoers will be eliminated soon. He said that we have reviewed the Liquor ban 9 times. This time there have been more deaths due to spurious liquor.
