Patna: For the first time in Bihar, a case of gall bladder cancer has come to light of a ten-year-old girl. She underwent a successful operation in the surgical gastroenterology department of IGIMS. The girl is from Supaul district. She had abdominal pain for nine months and jaundice for six months. Her weight was also decreasing rapidly.
When she was not getting well after receiving treatment in Supaul, doctors referred her to IGIMS. City scans here showed that there was cancer in the gall bladder. Dr Rakesh Kumar Singh under the leadership of Dr Manish Kumar Mandal of the department underwent surgery on the girl. In surgery, one-third of the patient's liver was cut and separated. The girl is still in conversation and her condition is normal. The team of doctors who performed the surgery included Dr Sujit Kumar, Dr Manish Shah, Dr Arvind Kumar, Dr Alok Kumar, Dr Priyanka and nurse Madhu. Dr NR Vishwas, Director of the Institute, congratulated the doctors for this successful operation.
While giving the information, Medical Superintendent Dr Manish Mandal said that cancer in the gall bladder at such a young age remains a puzzle for doctors. It will be investigated. The genetic machine will investigate it and find out its cause. He said that gall bladder cancer usually occurs at the age of 50 to 60 years. In various generals till now, cases of cancer have been found in the gall bladder at the age of 13, but the disease is a subject of research at the age of 10 years.
