Patna: Police have found the bodies of love birds hanging from a Mahua tree in the Jhajha police station area of Jamui district of Bihar. Police have seized the two bodies and are investigating the case. A police official said that police have recovered the bodies of a young man and woman hanging from a tree in the Sahiya forest near Banjama village after being informed by the villagers. The bodies have been identified.

The police officer said the two had been having an affair for two years. The bodies of the two were hanging from the tree with the same dupatta. Vermilion was also on the forehead of the girl.  According to police, the boy used to stay at his maternal uncle's house and study and fell in love with a girl from the same village. The boy is said to be 17 years old while the girl is said to be around 16 years old. According to sources, the girl's family was upset with the love affair.

Jamui SP Pramod Kumar Mandal said prima facie the case appears to be of murder. There was an affair between the boy and the girl. Both were missing from the house on Monday. He expressed apprehension that the body has been hanged from a tree after killing the duo elsewhere. He said the police are investigating the case from all angles. He said the body has been rushed to the hospital for postmortem and the cause of death will be known after the report is received.
