Patna: A speeding car crushed six persons, including five policemen, in Bihar's Ara district. At the time of the accident, policemen were searching for another car near Bibiganj under Gajrajganj Chowki police station on Ara-Buxar National Highway (NH-84). At around 1.30 am on Thursday, policemen of Gajrajganj Chowki police station were checking the car of Manish Kumar Singh, a resident of Kuwardah, near a petrol pump at Bibiganj under the Bihiya police station area.

Manish Kumar was returning from Bakhorapur under Barhara police station area after attending a wedding ceremony along with other members of his family. Police were just questioning Manish as to where he was returning from so late when a speeding car crushed five policemen and Manish Kumar Singh. After which all the six injured were taken to Sadar Hospital in Ara. Bhagwan Sah, a 58-year-old home guard from Mainpur under Dhobha Chowki police station, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.

SHO of Gajrajganj Outpost police station Chandan Kumar said that the injured Manish Kumar Singh has been referred to Patna for better treatment. Sub-Inspector Aditi Kumari, Home Guards Constables Shiv Kumar Upadhyay, Baleshwar Singh and the driver of the police vehicle Binay Kumar were discharged from the hospital after treatment. The car from which the incident took place has been seized by the police. Police are trying to identify the driver of the car who escaped after committing the accident.
