New Delhi: First phase of voting is going on in Bihar today. Voting is going on today for the candidates of 71 seats for the Bihar Assembly elections. Recently, senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor has surprised everyone with a tweet. In his tweet, he recalled migrant labourers travelling hundreds of miles during the Coronavirus lockdown. By tweeting, he writes, 'The tears in your eyes, the blisters on your feet. Do you remember everything? The ones who are voting today.'

Coronavirus lockdown was in place during March 2020. At that time, lakhs of migrants were seen walking on the road. All ventured through the street to their home. These included lakhs of labourers from Bihar, who returned to their hometown after not getting any option. All the modes of transport were also closed, due to which the labourers had to travel on foot. The special labour trains were run by the central government through which labourer was able to go home. During that time, the Nitish government was also very gritty.

Talking about the election, today, voting is going on in 71 assembly constituencies of 16 districts of Bihar. 1066 candidates are in the fray in this phase. On the other hand, the second phase of polling will be held on November 3 and the third phase on November 7. The results of all these will be announced on 10 November.
