Chapra: On Wednesday night, armed dacoits looted the Barauni-Gwalior Express train in Chhapra district of Bihar. The incident was carried out by the bandits between Sonepur and Digwada railway station. The dacoits targeted the passengers of the D-5 coach. On refusing to give their belongings, the dacoits also shot a passenger in the thigh.
The dacoits looted the passengers' mobile phones, cash and other valuables. According to the victims, the robbery occurred when the train reached Sonepur station. At least 15-20 armed miscreants entered the D-5 bogie and closed all the doors of the coach. Later he started robbing and threatening the passengers on the strength of gun. Dacoits looted mobile phones from women passengers and cash from men.
The bandits also looted 10 youths of Etawah in UP going to participate in CRPF recruitment. A youth identified as Shivam Yadav, a resident of Jaswantnagar, Etawah, was shot dead by robbers when he protested against robbing his gold chain. After carrying out the crime, the robbers escaped at Dighwara station. After the dacoits left, the passengers raised an alarm and reported the incident to the guard of the train, who informed the Government Railway Police (GRP). The injured person has been admitted to Sadar Hospital in Chapra.
