Ara: In Bihar's Aarah district, DRI has busted the smuggling of hemp under the garb of vegetables. The DRI team conducted a siege and raided near Sakaddi check post in Koilwar police station area of the district late on Monday. During this time more than nine quintals of ganja were recovered from a truck. Four including the driver of the truck and his accomplice have been arrested in this case.
According to the information received, a DRI, Patna official had received secret information that a large consignment of Ganja is being sent from Odisha to Bihar. On secret information, the team was formed under the leadership of NCB Regional Director Kumar Manish. This team stopped a truck and started a search near Sakady check post in Koilwar police station area on Ara-Patna Main Highway NH-30. As per the search, 152 packets of ganja filled with the truck were seized. Approximately nine quintals of ganja were kept hidden under Suran's vegetable. This consignment of Ganja being brought from Odisha was to be supplied in Bihar Chapra. But before that the police confiscated it.
In this case, DRI has arrested Shankar Yadav of Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, Pritam Lakda of Lohardaga, Bijendra Kumar Rai and Luv Kumar. In this regard, Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai told that raids are still going on. The recovered ganja was being brought from Sunki, Koraput in Odisha to Chhapra in Bihar. But the DRI team already seized the ganja. The police have also seized a Scorpio used in smuggling.
