Patna: Floods in several districts of Bihar have taken a toll. So far 102 people have lost their lives due to floods in 12 districts of the state while about 72 lakh people have been affected by the floods. People in many areas including Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga are forced to take shelter on the roads. In Nepal and Terai regions, the flood crisis has further deepened after intermittent rains.

An official of Bihar State Disaster Management Department said in a briefing on Monday that 102 people have lost their lives so far in 12 districts of Bihar, Shivhar, Sitamdhi, Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Saharsa, Supaul, Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia and Katihar. The life of the people has been disrupted. A total of 133 relief camps have been set up in these 12 flood affected districts where 1,14,921 people have taken shelter. A number of 776 community cooks are being run to provide food to the people in the flood-affected areas.

According to information received from Bihar Water Resources Department on Monday, several rivers of Bihar, Old Gandak, Bagmati, Kamla Balan and Mahananda rivers are flowing above the danger mark at different places on Sunday morning.
