Three-time Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra passes away, three days state mourning

Patna: Former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra passed away in New Delhi today after a prolonged illness. Mishra, 82, had taken over as Chief Minister of Bihar thrice. He was also the Union Minister. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister Giriraj Singh have condoled the death of Mishra. In Bihar, a three-day state mourning has been declared over the death of Mishra.

Mishra first became the CM of the state in 1975 and held the post till April 1977. Then, in 1980, he became THE CM for three years and took over the command of the state. Mishra became chief minister for three months in 1989.  Bihar CM Nitish Kumar dies of former CM Mishra but have expressed condolences. A three-day state mourning has been declared in the state following the death of Mishra. Former CM Mishra will be cremated with full state honours.

Mishra became the Chief Minister of Bihar three times while in the Congress party. Mishra had taken the Congress to heights in Bihar. At present, he was a member of the JDU. Mishra's name was also found in the Rs 950-crore fodder scam in Bihar. Former Bihar CM and RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav is still serving a sentence in the 1996 case.
