Patna: A controversial statement by former Bihar CM and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) National President Jitan Ram Manjhi has surfaced questioning the existence of Shriram and calling him imaginary.  Former CM Manjhi said he does not believe that Shriram was a living or a great man, but admitted that the Ramayana contains a lot of knowledge that is worth following in life.

Manjhi said the Ramayana contains many things, verses and messages that can be useful in the creation of any person. The Chairman further said that there are many things in the Ramayana like respect for women and respect for elders, which are useful in building one's personality. In fact, Jitan Ram Manjhi said what he called Shriram imaginary on Tuesday when he was questioned whether the way the Ramayana has been made a part of the curriculum in Madhya Pradesh should be the same in Bihar as is demanded by BJP leaders.

On the one hand, Jitan Ram Manjhi described Shriram as imaginary, while on the other hand, it was advocated on his part that the Ramayana should be included in the school education curriculum of Bihar so that people can learn good things from it.
