New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the  people of Bihar a happy Bihar Day on Tuesday.

In Hindi, President Kovind tweeted, "Greetings to the state's citizens on Bihar Day! Bihar has a wonderful history and a plethora of cultural treasures. The diligent and talented people in this country have made major contributions to the country's progress. As Governor of Bihar, I have garnered enormous affection from the local populace. I wish you the very best on this auspicious occasion."

Prime Minister Modi tweeted in Hindi, "To all Bihar brothers and sisters, we wish you a happy Bihar Day. I desire that this state, which is rich in historical and cultural resources, would continue to reach new development milestones."

On March 22, Bihar Day commemorates the founding of the state of Bihar. In 1912, the British separated the state from Bengal. Bihar Day is a state holiday in Bihar.
