Kaimur: There is also a village in Kaimur district of Bihar where not a single case has been registered in the police station since Independence till date. It is not that there are no disputes in this village, all the disputes that take place are settled in a temple in the village itself. Yes, we are talking about the village of Surrey, which falls under Kaimur district. Since Independence, no case has reached the police station since Independence.
According to Dilnawaz Ahmed, superintendent of police, Kaimur, if there is any dispute in Surrey village, people do not go round the police station and the court. All disputes are made in a Shiva temple located in the village itself. The people of this village treat Lord Shiva as a judge and settle disputes in the presence of the elderly.
Every decision to be made in this temple is accepted by all the people of the village. Villagers say that there are about 700 people living in this village. Its distance from the Mohania subdivision is about 7 to 8 km. Even after the then DM, Arvind Kumar Singh declared the village as an ideal village in 2014, there is nothing in the name of development.
In Bihar, while people are vying to buy arms, the village under Kaimur district still does not have a licensed gun or rifle. Kaimur Superintendent of Police Dilnawaz Ahmed also admits that the village is amazing today, from where not a single case has reached the police station. If other villages in Bihar follow Surrey, the crime graph in the state will go down and the police will be comfortable.
