Nalanda: Villagers thrashed a doctor at a private clinic in Nalanda district of Bihar on Wednesday. The villagers who arrived after hearing about the rape of the widow who had gone for treatment were bent on killing the doctor. However, in time the police reached the spot and rescued the accused doctor from mob lynching. The police have currently arrested the doctor. Meanwhile, the woman has undergone a medical test at sadar hospital. The incident took place in a village in Nagarnausa police station area of the district.
According to the woman, she had approached Dr Jitendra Kumar of a private clinic in Nagarnausa for treatment after her health deteriorated. During treatment, the doctor tried to commit rape of her. In that case, she started shouting. The villagers gathered on hearing the commotion and thrashed the accused doctor. People beat up and tore the doctor's clothes. The villagers also confessed to the doctor that he had raped her.
Meanwhile, police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and managed to prevent the mob linching incident. Police are currently taking the accused into custody and interrogating him. In connection with the incident, Hilsa Saheb Suresh Prasad has informed that the accused doctor and the victim have been handed over to Nagarnausa police station. Meanwhile, villagers said that the accused rural doctor has been staying in the village for nearly 15 years and undergoing treatment. He had been beaten up once or twice before. But the reason was not known.
