New rates of bus fares fixed in Bihar, know whether fares increased or reduced

Patna: New bus fare rates have been fixed in Bihar after the hike in petrol and diesel prices. The Transport Department has fixed the new rate of buses after 3 years. Earlier, the new bus rates were introduced in 2018. A notification has been issued by departmental secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal. As per the new rates, the concerned Regional Transport Authority will fix the basic fare of buses in 15 days and the new fare per km.

After the hike in oil prices, there was a constant demand from the bus operators to increase the fare. The department released the draft for the fare hike last month. The officer has sought suggestions and objections from the people, but within 1 month, no suggestions were received or objected by anyone. In view of this, the Department has revised the order passed on 6th October 2018 and fixed the new fare of buses in Bihar.

Bus travel has become costlier:-
The transport department has increased the fare of buses by 67 percent. The department has told that the fare for the places from the start of the buses to the end of the journey will be fixed by the state and regional transportation authority. The district administration has been asked to display the fare of buses in all public places. The fixed fare rate is maximized. Not much fare will be charged at this rate. Each vehicle owner and driver will display the list of fares and fares in the vehicle. The fare has been determined on the basis of sitting capacity.
