Patna: Keeping its election promise, the Nitish Kumar government approved the proposal to provide the coronavirus vaccine free of cost to all the people of the state in the first meeting of the cabinet. During the Bihar elections, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that if the NDA government is formed in the state, then all the people of the state will be given the Corona vaccine free.
Sources said that CM Nitish Kumar directed the Health Department to work out the modalities of vaccinating the coronavirus to every resident of the state. A senior government official said in connection with the development that in the first round the vaccine will be given to health workers and people above the age of 50 to 60 years. Soon a detailed report will be prepared on the consultation and vaccination campaign. In the coming days, modalities will be worked out. It has been decided in principle for free vaccination in the state.
Deputy Chief Tarkishore Prasad said, 'We have decided to give Corona vaccine free to every resident of the state, as it was the most important promise of BJP and NDA. It is a great gift for the people of the state after our decision. We feel that the greatest power of Bihar is its human resources and we want them to be protected from a life-threatening disease, as the world is reeling from epidemics.'
