New Delhi: Polling for the I-st phase of the Panchayat elections in Bihar will be held Friday, September 24. In the first phase, voting will take place in twelve blocks spread over 10 districts from 7 am to 5 pm. Counting of votes will take place between September 26 and 28, once the first phase is over.

As per details shared by the source, it said that 15,328 candidates have filed nomination papers out of which 858 candidates have been chosen unopposed while no candidate has filed nomination papers for 72 posts. For the first phase of polling, 2119 polling stations have been set up in 1,609 centres. Bihar State Election Commission has also issued a helpline number for voting-concerned problems and information.

According to the notification on panchayat elections issued by the election commission, 28 districts in Bihar will not go to the polls in the first phase – they are namely Araria, Bhojpur, Buxar, Shivhar, Supaul, Darbhanga, Gopalganj,  Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Katihar, Kishanganj,  Madhubani, Patna, Purnia, Sheikhpura, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda Sitamarhi, Saharsa, East Champaran, Samastipur, Vaishali, West Champaran.
