Patna: The Nitish government has given a green signal for the panchayat elections in Bihar on Tuesday evening. Panchayat elections will be held in 10 phases in the state. The special thing is that EVM will be used for the first time in the panchayat elections in Bihar. With this, the expenditure of 122 crores coming in the elections has also been approved.
The cabinet meeting of the Bihar government took place on Tuesday evening. It was decided in the meeting that this time the EVM machine will be used in the panchayat elections. With this, an expenditure of about Rs 122 crore will be incurred in this election. Permission has been given to release this amount. The state government will buy 90 thousand EVMs for the panchayat elections. In the Panchayat elections to be held in Bihar, ward members, panch, sarpanch, panchayat level chiefs, panchayat samiti members, and Zilla Parishad members will be selected.
In the cabinet meeting, it has been decided that the old reservation system will be implemented in the panchayat elections, i.e. the seats which were reserved in the last panchayat elections will remain reserved this time too. According to the Election Commission guidelines for the three-tier panchayat elections in Bihar, voting will be held from 7 am to 5 pm. Votes will be counted from 8 am. However, the dates of the Panchayat elections to be held in 10 phases have not been announced yet.
