School reopening in Bihar is delayed due to cold

Patna: In view of the cold wave in Bihar, a decision is yet to be taken on the opening of schools for children below class IX. Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar has categorically stated that a meeting of the Disaster Management Group will be held at the end of January, which will decide on the opening of schools below the ninth.

He was speaking to the media after the National Voters' Day program at the convention building on Monday. He said the meeting is not yet being held to open schools in view of the cold. It may be mentioned that earlier it was decided that opening of middle schools would be considered in the month of January itself. The primary schools will then be launched in February. The disaster management group meeting was scheduled to be held on 25th January, but it has been postponed in view of the cold.

The state schools are closed since March 14 due to corona infection. Schools have been allowed to open on certain conditions for conducting classes from 9th to 12th from January 4. 50 percent of the children are being called in a day to adhere to social dissing.
