CM Nitish gets support from Bihar over demand for special status of the state

Bettiah: CM Nitish Kumar has joined former CM and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HUM) demanding special status for Bihar. Jitan Ram Manjhi on Thursday said that Bihar is a backward state and special statehood should be given for its development. The meeting of our National Council was held at Valmikinagar in West Champaran on Thursday. The meeting was chaired by former Bihar CM and party president Jitan Ram Manjhi.

The meeting was attended by the Party's National General Secretary and Bihar Minister Dr Santosh Kumar Suman and party MLA and other members. In the National Council meeting, all powers to reconstitute the dissolved unit of the national and state were unanimously given to the party's national president Manjhi. Manjhi said that he will make a decision on the structure of the organisation within a month on the restructuring of the national and state units.

After the same meeting, Jitan Ram Manjhi categorically said that Bihar should get special statehood when NITI Aayog is describing Bihar as a backward state. Our party is with CM Nitish Kumar for this. He said that we party has been demanding reservation in the private sector from the very beginning. The proposal has also been passed in the Council meeting. He said common schooling has also been discussed in the Council. He said that Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar's dream was to have leaders, officers and children of the poor to learn together, but today, due to personal education, the children of the elders are overtaking and the children of the poor are lagging behind.
