Patna: According to media reports, stones were pelted fiercely during the procession being taken out on Ram Navami in the Dewanganj area of the Laheri police station area in Biharsharif. When stone-pelting did not satisfy the rioters, they torched nearby houses and shops indiscriminately. Four people have been injured in this firing. Out of which the condition of two is said to be critical. Earlier, 9 people were injured in stone pelting, including 2 girls. The police administration of Bihar says that the situation is under control and peaceful. Section 144 has been imposed in the entire city. However, tension can still be felt in the area.

Nalanda Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Mishra says that the police are patrolling the area. He also said that a request has been made to stop internet service in the area for now. SP Mishra said that the miscreants are being identified and strict action will be taken against them. On the other hand, District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar denied setting fire to the mosque. He said that there is no news of any mosque being set on fire. He said that the situation is being identified from CCTV footage, drone cameras, etc.

Local people say that a procession was taken out by the Hindus on the occasion of Ram Navami. When the procession was leaving the mosque in the Dewanganj area, radical Muslims pelted stones at the procession. During this, the rioters fiercely vandalised vehicles and set them on fire. After this, the shops were looted and set on fire.
