Buxar: Two girls were killed by snakebite at two different places in Buxar district of Bihar. The family alleges that the girls died due unavailability of anti-snake dose in Primary Health Centres (PHCs). According to information, Pammi Kumari(13), daughter of Shambhu Yadav, a resident of Kharwania village under Sikraul police station, was bitten by a snake on Saturday night.

The family immediately took him to the Primary Health Centre where the injectable anti-snake dose of snakebite was not available, after which the family took the girl to Pratapsagar Methodist Hospital for a long distance but died late. The second incident took place in the village of Karadari in Sikraul police station. Here, Umashankar Pal's 12-year-old girl Kiran Kumari also died of snakebite. Here too, the family brought the girl to PHC but due to non-availability of snakebite medicine, it was also brought to Pratap Sagar Hospital but she could not be saved.

Agitated by the two incidents of snakebite in the nearby village on the same night, villagers say that anti-snake dose injections are not available in the PHC, which has led to the death of the girl child.
