In this video of Ropar, he is seen urging voters of Punjab to support the Congress in the assembly elections and keep away the 'Bhaiya' of Bihar, UP and Delhi. Channi was in Ropar to address an election rally in support of Youth Congress leader Barinder Singh Dhillon, where he said, "Let us unite all Punjabis and not let Bhaiyas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi enter Punjab." In the wake of Channi's speech, senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi was present on the dais next to Channi. In the video, Priyanka is also seen shaking her head and praising the comment.
