The Bikaner-Guwahati Express accident claimed the lives of six people, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway. According to police, there were 1053 passengers on board when the train crashed due to a "faulty track." At least 200 BSF men were deployed to the accident site for the rescue effort after the mishap.

"Anguished to read of the loss of life due to a sad rail accident in West Bengal," Home Minister Amit Shah stated. My deepest condolences go out to the grieving families. "I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for those who have been injured."

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, also talked to Union Railway Minister Nitin Gadkari and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about the derailment of the Bikaner-Guwahati Express at Moynaguri, near Jalpaiguri. After Sarma's communication with Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal administration told him that it will give all support and keep the Assam government informed of the situation.

On Thursday, 12 coaches of the Guwahati-Bikaner Express train derailed in Maynaguri town in the Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, killing two persons and injuring several others. A number of passengers were trapped in the wreckage of the trains that collided. Ten individuals are critically injured and will be sent to the North Bengal Medical College in Siliguri.

Many passengers are concerned that they may be trapped beneath the debris.
