Chandigarh: Polling for assembly elections is being held in Punjab today (February 20). Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has made a big statement. He said if the Shiromani Akali Dal-BSP alliance comes to power, the party will take a decision to form an alliance with the BJP after the elections. This time Bikram Singh Majithia is contesting from Majitha and Amritsar East. He is pitted against Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Amritsar East seat.

In one of his interviews, Bikram Majithia said, "My fight is for the people of Punjab. Amritsar East needs development. The poor do not get welfare schemes. This is the most backward. The truth will win in this election. We will decide on an alliance with the BJP after the elections." Attacking the Congress, Majithia said, "Arrogance will be defeated. People have seen the Congress for five years, but they have done nothing."

At the same time, Akali Dal leader Gurbachan Singh has also indicated that if the party has less data, he may form an alliance with the BJP. Gurbachan Singh is the SAD candidate from the Gurdaspur seat. He said, "We are confident of victory. Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party will form the next government in Punjab. If the numbers are low, the party will decide to take the support of the BJP. It depends on the numbers, but the Congress is our No.1 political enemy." Significantly, the SAD and the BSP have formed an alliance for the assembly elections in the state. The Bahujan Samaj Party is contesting on 20 of the 117 assembly seats in Punjab.
