Maharashtra Culls 40,000 Poultry Birds In Navapur Due To Bird Flu

Maharashtra: At present, the cases of bird flu are increasing in Maharashtra. In the meantime, according to the news, 1.05 lakh chickens have been recorded in five poultry farms in Nawapur of Nandurbar district in Kullu on Monday. The total number of birds in Nawapur so far is 1.47 lakh. This practice started last Sunday when avian influenza or bird flu cases of more than 42,000 birds were confirmed. After that, it was confirmed in the poultry farms of the area. It is said that there are a total of 1.74 lakh chickens in the five farms.

On Monday, the district administration talked about this. The district administration said, 'Reports on samples from three more poultry farms have also come positive for bird flu. There are a total of 1.31 lakh chickens in these three farms and the officials said that these birds will also be reared. There are 27 poultry farms in Maharashtra's poultry hub, Nawapur, which supplies in Surat and other adjoining areas, totalling 9.71 lakh chickens. So out of 27, 16 farms fall under the infected area, which is within a km range from a farm where the birds have tested positive.

There are a total of 4.90 lakh chickens in these 16. Meanwhile, the poultry farm owners said that the compensation is insufficient and the outbreak has brought the poultry industry of Nawapur to the brink of closure. After Kullu, poultry farm owners are not allowed to bring any new birds for at least three months and it may take 2-3 months to start a business. It will not give jobs to our 10 labourers for at least six months.
