Mumbai: Amid the coronavirus crisis in the country, bird flu has hit the country and the sudden death of around 100 chickens at a poultry farm in the Thane district of Maharashtra has created a stir. As per the information received recently, Thane DM and Collector Rajesh J. Narvekar have informed that in view of the threat of bird flu, samples of chickens have been sent to a laboratory in Pune. Let us tell you all that Dr Bhausaheb Dangde, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Thane Zilla Parishad has told that the chickens died due to H5N1 avian influenza.

At the same time, in view of the threat of bird flu, the administration is on alert and about 25 thousand birds falling within one kilometre of the affected poultry farm will be butchered. Let me tell you all that Thane DM and Collector Rajesh J. Narvekar has recently reported, "About 100 chickens died suddenly in a poultry farm in Vehloli village of Shahpur tehsil of Thane district. In view of the bird flu threat, their samples have been sent to a laboratory in Pune.''

He also said, "In the next few days, about 25,000 birds falling within a one-kilometre radius of the affected poultry farm will be killed." The district animal husbandry department has been ordered to take measures to control the infection. On the other hand, Dr Bhausaheb Dangde, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Thane Zilla Parishad, said, "Recently, about 100 birds died in a poultry farm in Vehroli village of Shahpur tehsil. His samples were sent to a Pune-based laboratory for testing and the results confirmed that he died due to H5N1 avian influenza.'' Apart from this, Dr Bhausaheb Dangde said, "The animal husbandry department of the district will take measures to prevent the spread of the infection to other birds. He said the Union Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry has been informed about the bird flu cases here.''
