Manipur: On Saturday, six new ministers were appointed to the BJP-led administration in Manipur, as Chief Minister N Biren Singh expanded his cabinet following his re-election last month.

Letpao Haokp (Tengnoupal), Sapam Ranjan Singh (Konthoujam), Thounaojam Basanta Singh (Nambol), L Susindro Meitei (Khurai), and H Dingo Singh (Sekmai) of the BJP, and NPF's Chingai MLA Khasim Vashum of the NPF, are the new cabinet members.  Governor La Ganesan swore them in at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.

Their portfolios, however, have yet to be revealed.  The government now has a total of 12 members, with 10 from the BJP and two from the NPF. After the BJP won the Northeastern state for the second time in a row, Singh and five of his colleagues were sworn in as ministers on March 21.

The BJP won 32 seats in the recent assembly elections, while the NPF won five. National People's Party (NPP), JD(U), Kuki People's Alliance (KPA), and Independent MLAs in the assembly support the Biren Singh government. The only opposition in the 60-member House is Congress, which won five seats.
