There is hardly anyone who doesn't know Chand Bardai. Chand Bardai, called the great poet of Indian history, was born in Lahore in 1205-1148 A.D. Chand Bardai was a close aide to prithviraj Chauhan, the famous Hindu king of Ajmer-Delhi, and later became the poet in the cour of Prithiviraj Chouhan. Chand Bardai spent most of the time with Maharaja Prithviraj Chauhan in Delhi.

It is believed, apart from state activities with Prithviraj Chauhan, he lived with Prithviraj in the war zone and the most important period is of the 13th century. The famous treatise of Chand Bardai is 'Prithvirajraso', the language of this book has been called Pingal by the scribes, which is synonymous with Brij Bhasha in Rajasthan. Therefore, Chand Bardai is considered to be the first great poet of the Brij Bhasha. 

The Raso granth has been composed for the war description of King Prithviraj. The book includes statements of his heroic wars and love-contexts. In addition, the description of heroic and Shringar Ras is very elegantly depicted in this book. Chand bardai has composed this book.

The inscription evidence makes it clear that there was an unknown poet who completed this creation, who has completed this creation by describing the last moments of Chandbardai and Prithviraj.

In Indian history, Chand Bardai is the first poet of Hindi and his creation Prithviraj Raso has the honour of being the first creation of Hindi, Prithviraj Raso is the greatest poetic book of Hindi. It has more than 10,000 verses and the then prevalent 6 languages have been used.
