Kunaal Roy Kapur, a famous Indian movie actor as well as a director, is celebrating his 44 birthday anniversary today, 13, February 2023..
Kunaal comes from a family of mixed Hindu Punjabi and Indian Jewish heritage. He primarily works in Indian film industry. Kunaal was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India on 13th February, 1979. He is commonly known for movies like, Nautanki Saala as Mandar lele, Delhi Belly as Nitin Berry and The Final Exit.
His paternal grandfather, Raghupat Roy Kapur (or Raghupat Rai Kapoor), a Hindu of the Punjabi Khatri community, was a film producer. Kunaal's father was Kumud Roy Kapur, and his mother, Salome Roy Kapur, is of Indian Jewish descent.
Kunaal is the second of three brothers. His elder brother is Siddharth Roy Kapur, CEO of UTV and Disney India, and his younger brother is Aditya Roy Kapur. Actress Vidya Balan is his sister-in-law as she is married to Siddharth. He is married to Shayonti Salvi since 2005. The couple together have a son Zahaan, and a daughter Shanaz.
Kapur's acting career began in 1997–1998 with the Sony TV broadcast of the Indian serial opera Just Mohabbat. Later, in 2007's Loins of Punjab Presents, starring Shabana Azmi and Ishita Sharma, he made a brief cameo appearance. He appeared in Panga Naa Lo as well.
In 2006, Kunaal made his directorial debut with the comedy The President Is Coming. With the mockumentary The President Is Coming (2009), starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Shernaz Patel, he turned the play into a movie, making his directorial debut. The film debuted to mixed reviews and was dubbed a "Semi-Hit."
Kapur appeared in six episodes of British-Indian comedy series Mumbai Calling (2009) as a call centre operator. He has appeared in Aamir Khan Productions' Delhi Belly (2011) alongside Imran Khan and Vir Das . Thereafter, he acted in Nautanki Saala (2013) with
Later, he appeared in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) with an ensemble cast that included Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and his younger brother Aditya Roy Kapur, as well as Nautanki Saala (2013) alongside Ayushman Khurana. Then he appeared in Prabhu Deva's Action Jackson, which also starred Ajay Devgan, Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam, Gollu Aur Pappu, Vir Das, and Karishma Tanna.
His latest film, Azhar, featured him as Reddy (Azharuddin's attorney). The Final Exit was then released in 2017. He appeared in the 2018 anti-romeo squad-based film Hotel Milan, directed by Vishal Mishra and starring Zeishan Quadri, Karishma Sharma, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rajesh Sharma, and Zakir Hussain. Later, he appeared in the comedy Side Hero on Eros Now as well as the eight episode web series Going Viral, which was broadcast on Amazon Prime. He starred in Marudhar Express, another movie with Mishra as the director, in 2019. A charming small-town romance movie with a Kanpur setting. He played Pranav in seasons 1 and 2 of the web series TVF Tripling.
He appeared in a short film named Smartphone which also starred Hina Khan and Akshay Oberoi.
