Johnny Depp is a really great actor. He has played interesting and eccentric roles and done justice to them. We all know him as Captain Jack Sparrow. He was born in 1963 to a waitress, Betty Sue Palmer, and a civil engineer John Christopher Depp in Owensboro, Kentucky. But most of his childhood was spent moving around a lot and it was much later that they settled down in Miramar, Florida.

Depp received his first guitar when he was 12 and instantly fell in love with it. When he was forced to go back to school, his principal encouraged him to drop out and follow his passion. That is when he left for LA to become a rockstar.

 It was Johnny’s school principal who encouraged him to cease schooling and follow his dreams. Johnny’s parents wanted him to pursue and complete his high school studies but then destiny had something else in store for him.

Johnny Depp has recorded with British rock band Oasis where he played the slide guitar in their song Fade In-Out for their album Be Here Now. The album was released in 1997 and soon became the fastest selling album in British charts.

Johnny Depp is one of the highest paid actors for a while now and he had even got listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the highest paid actor in the year 2011 with a net total earning of $75 million.

Although he is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood but he has never won an Oscar. He has been nominated various times including for his work in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Johnny loves wearing his Captain Jack Sparrow costume. He carries with him wherever he goes. When time permits, he puts it on and surprises and entertains children at the local hospitals. He remains in the character and enjoys it when he is with the kids.

Johnny Depp is known for his helpful nature towards others. During the filming of a movie The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, he convinced Jude Law and Collin Ferrel to give up the net earning from the movie to secure a financial future for Heath Ledger’s daughter. With the sudden demise of Heath Ledger, Depp wanted to ensure that his daughter, Matilda never needs to struggle with finances in the future. 

Johnny Depp is fond of tattoos. His whole body is heavily inked. He has even modified certain tattoos when circumstances changed. His ex-fiance Winona Ryder’s name was inked on his body. But after they split, he changed the tattoo to WINO FOREVER!

He owns a Little Hay’s Pond Cay Island in the Bahamas for which he paid $3.2 million back in 2004. The island has six beaches named after his kids Lily-Rose and John as well as his former partner Vanessa Paradis. Later in 2015, he got married to his new partner Amber Heard on that island.

Depp was once caught in the act while vandalizing a poster of his movie 21 Jump Street. He did not like the picture of his character in the billboard, nor did he like the quote along with it so he started drawing all over it. When confronted, the police realized who he was and actually let him finish doodling.

One time he was almost mugged but the mugger recognized him and backed out by saying he won’t be stealing from Captain Jack. Depp gave him some money anyway!
