Eminent Novelist, columnist, scriptwriter and motivational speaker Chetan Bhagat is celebrating his 49th birthday today, 22nd April 2023.

Chetan Bhagat wrote several bestsellers that found significant popularity in bookstores. Since their release, each of them has been a bestseller, and renowned Bollywood directors have filmed them all. Instead of just being a writer, Chetan Bhagat is regarded as a youth icon. Many young Indians have developed a love of reading thanks to his vibrant and entertaining storytelling. 

He also excels as a journalist and contributes to numerous prestigious newspapers. He asserts that he uses books as a form of entertainment to express his ideas and opinions concerning society and young people. Through columns, national and international topics are discussed. The challenges in our nation are pointed out clearly in Chetan's writings, which have frequently even sparked conversations in the parliament. He has made numerous motivating talks at numerous colleges, organisations, and businesses. He is not simply a talented writer.

Personal  Life: On April 22, 1974, Chetan Bhagat was born in New Delhi to a middle-class Punjabi family. His mother worked for the government, while his father served in the Army. His education was primarily completed in Delhi. From 1978 until 1999, he attended the Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, before deciding to major in mechanical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He enrolled in a management programme at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, after completing his engineering degree. It was hardly surprising given his exceptional academic performance when he was named the "Best Outgoing Student" of his cohort by IIM Ahmadabad.

Later, in 1998, he married Anusha Suryanarayanan, a fellow IIM-A student. Chetan then relocated to Hong Kong with his family to work for Goldman Sachs as an investment banker. He spent eleven years working in Hong Kong before moving to Mumbai and beginning to write. His passion was for it. He has published four books: Two States (2009), One Night @ The Call Centre (2005), The Three Mistakes Of My Life (2008), and Five Point Someone (2004). All of his books' titles, whether by chance or design, had numbers. Now, he enjoys a contented life with his wife and sons, Ishaan and Shyam. Chetan enjoys leading a simple life while his kids, who aspire to be super heroes, watch cartoons. He routinely practises yoga since he is concerned about his health.

Career: In 2004, Chetan Bhagat released his debut book, "Five Point Someone," which propelled him to the heights of fame and recognition. The narrative of an IIT student who believes he is less intelligent than all the other IIT students was told in the book. The Society Young Achiever's Award and Publisher's Recognition Award were given to this work. Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Kareena Kapoor were among the well-known Bollywood actors that appeared in Rajkumar Hirani's adaptation of the novel. One Night At A Call Centre, his second book, was also a huge success. The cinematic adaptation of this book was called "Hello," and Chetan authored the screenplay. Bollywood icon Salman Khan made a surprise appearance in the film, which was only a fair hit. His upcoming book's main focus is cricket. 'Three Mistakes of My Life' is the title of the piece. 'Two States' is the title of his fourth book.

Contributions: The entertainment industry has benefited from Chetan Bhagat's contributions. He never restricted his literary abilities to merely novel writing. He also contributes pieces to newspapers as a responsible citizen, referencing and discussing numerous social and governmental topics. Many of his pieces caught the attention of lawmakers and led to important debates in the Indian Parliament. By writing Sonia Gandhi an opening letter, he addressed concerns like corruption. He also spoke about the political issues surrounding Baba Ramdev.

Awards and citations: In 2000, he received the Society Young Achiever's Award, and in 2005, he received the Publisher's Recognition Award. In 2010, Chetan Bhagat was listed as one of the "World's 100 Most Influential People" by Time magazine.
