The famous comedian and actor is married to Jaymala Joshi and they are blessed with 2 children, son Ritwik Joshi and daughter Neeyati Joshi.

While pursuing his B.Com, Dilip Joshi also won ‘Best Actor Award’ twice from the Indian National Theatre during his college days.

One of those dramas was directed by Raju Joshi (Kyoki Saas Bhi) and the second one was directed by Niraj Vora (Phir Hera Pheri) in 1988, (the real) Tarak Mehta converted a Marathi drama into Gujarati, named "Sakha Sahiyara", he got the role in it and did 300 shows of that, After that he never looked back.

Dilip Joshi has already worked with Munmun Datta, who plays the role of Babita, in another show called Hum Sab Barati. Dilip Joshi was initially approached for the role of Champak Lal. However, he declined it and was later offered the role of Jetha Lal.

It might surprise, but the role of Babita and Iyer was suggested by Jethalal Gada. The entire character suggested by the Gada and the interesting part is that he is one who inspired both of them to become on-screen couples.

Jethalal thought the combination of Black & White, and Tamil & Maharashtra wife & husband roles would bring a new glow to the show. Fortunately, the angle where Jethalal hits on Babita worked out for the show.

Dilip Joshi’s First television break was "Hum Panchhi Ek daal ke", and then he got the lead role in "Zaraa Hatke" for Zee TV. He then acted as a Madrasi Rangaa-swami in "Kya Baat Hai".
