Raj Kapoor's father Prithviraj Kapoor, known as the famous show man of Hindi cinema, was born on this day. He was born on 3 November 1906 in Lailpur (currently Faisalabad). It is said that Prithviraj's father Basheshwarnath Kapoor was a police officer in the Indian Imperial Police and Prithviraj was fond of acting since childhood. He made his acting debut at theaters in Lyallpur and Peshawar and later became a super hit, not just a hit. He moved to Mumbai in 1928 and after that he joined the Imperial Film Company.

His first film was Dohi Dhari Talwar, in which he worked as a co-actor. He played the main character in the film 'Cinema Girl' which was made in the year 1929. Altogether he acted in nine silent films, after which he appeared in the film 'Alam Ara' as a supporting actor Vidyapati. He made a mark in everyone's heart by working in many hits and superhit films. It is said that after every show in the theater, Prithviraj used to stand with a bag at the gate.

He used to do this because the people who came out of the show put some money in that bag and used to help the employees working in the Prithviraj theater with that money. One of his most loved and hit films was a Mughal-e-Azam film with a historical background. In this film he played the role of Akbar. Stars like Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Durga Khote and Nigar Sultana won the hearts of all by working on this film. Apart from the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, he was also given several awards. Prithviraj was suffering from cancer and died at the age of 64 years.
