Today is the birth anniversary of our 10th Prime Minister Pamulaparti Venkata Narasimha Rao(1991-1996). He was also termed as renowned Lawyer, Politician, Poet, Activist, Novelist and Chief Minister Andhra Pradesh(1971-73). Politician, who was born on June 28, 1921, was died at the age of 83 in on December 23. Rao completed his Masters in law from Nagpur University after pursuing his BA from Osmania University. He also had mastery Hindi, Oriya, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Sanskrit, Tamil and Urdu including some foreign languages like English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German and Persian. With these qualitative skills, he contributed to the edition of Telugu weekly magazine "Kakatiya Patrika" and article writing under name of 'Jaya-Vijaya'.

The “Father of Indian Economic Reforms” was the among those who contributed to 1991 Economic reforms of India. At his tenure as PM, he also had the responsibility of  Industries portfolio that eradicated License Raj. He allowed Dr Manmohan Singh to bring efficient amendments in India’s economy by appointing him as Finance Minister. SEBI Act of 1992 and the Security Laws (Amendment) were some of the reforms that were made under his administration. Rao was also famous as Chanakya because of his ability to tackle tough conditions properly with his great acumen. Updating NSE to the computer-based system, an organization of nuclear and ballistic missiles program were some other masterstrokes that came under his reign.

After getting entangled in bribery case for buying support in non-confidence motion(1993), he was found guilty to bribe Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MPs in 2000 to retain his party’s rule. Later, he was pardoned by Delhi High Court in 2002.

For his tremendous benefaction to India, politicians like K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Subramanian Swamy and his political party leaders recommended his name for Bharat Ratna. Either the reforms were for political benefits or for paying to his responsibility and dedication towards his work, India will always memorize the personality.
