Chitrangda and Jyoti's fathers were in the same regiment of the Indian Army. "The first time I saw her was when I had gone to her house; she was in class 8 then and I was in the last year of school," the golfer revealed in an interview with a website.

However, love blossomed after Chitrangda shifted base to Delhi. Since Jyoti's father was posted in the same city, they moved there as well. After a five-year-long courtship, the couple tied the knot in 2001. A few months later, in 2014, Chitrangda and Jyoti were officially divorced, with primary custody of their son granted to the actress. Recently, she told a leading daily that being a single mother was no cakewalk. "It is difficult to bring up a child as a single parent. But society is no longer cynical towards it. Divorce and single parenthood have become normal things," she said. Jyoti is also actively involved in Zorawar's life, she revealed. "My son is living a very balanced life with both his parents," Chitrangda said.
