The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has carried out a major action in the case of smuggling of gold. The DRI has arrested three people. They also include a Chinese citizen. These people have been caught from Taiwan and Hong Kong for the purpose of smuggling gold into India. The DRI has also caught 21 kg of gold from them. On Thursday, The DRI said this in an official statement.

Information released through the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence says that three people including a Chinese and a Taiwanese have been apprehended in the said case. The investigating agency said that two Chinese-based and one Taiwan-based smuggling mafia have been investigated in the smuggling of gold. The statement said that gold is being hidden in household items like utensils.

The investigation agency said that the gold brought by smuggling was sold to bullion traders in Karol Bagh, Delhi. The agency says that they are also being investigated. On 21 October, the agency confirmed, that it had caught 21 kg of gold from a flat in Delhi which worth about 7.62 crores. DRI officials also said that along with the seizure of gold, a Taiwanese man and an Indian man were also arrested from the flat. It was these people who brought gold in the flat. After this, a Chinese citizen was arrested from Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday. It is a key member of the Chinese citizen mafia, which supplied the captured gold. The agency said that the investigation process is on and other others may also be arrested.
