Gandhinagar: Several senior BJP leaders from the state including Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, BJP state unit president CR Patil, education minister Jitubhai Vaghani, state vice president Gordhan Jhadfia, former minister Bhupendra Singh Chudasma, Gandhinagar election in-charge Amit Thakar, Pradeep Singh Vaghela reached the state office and joined the party's victory celebrations.

This is the first major victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Bhupendra Patel became CM. State BJP is leading with a huge majority in the municipal district and tehsil panchayat elections due to state president Patil's strategy. BJP is leading in 41 of the 44 seats in Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, while Congress 2 and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have retained the lead in one seat.

After the victory, CM Bhupendra Patel and the state BJP president also arrived to address a press conference. After Surat, the AAP has also proved fatal for the Congress in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections. Political experts were treating the Aam Aadmi Party as a threat to the BJP, but after looking at the results of the Gandhi Nagar Municipal Corporation in Surat, it seems to have proved to be very dangerous for the Congress.
