Union Minister, Ramdas Athawale has asked for a ministerial berth for his Republican Party of India (RPI) in the Maharashtra government.

According to reports by the ANI, Athawale affirmed that he would propose the matter before Devendra Fadnavis the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

He asserted, "We demand that a minister post be given to Republican Party of India (RPI) in the Maharashtra government. We have always stood by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), even when the Shiv Sena decided to go alone for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. We had put forth this demand earlier, and will bring it up again before Fadnavis."

The Shiv Sena-BJP coalition has been on a low ride in the recent time after BJP decided to participate in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections all by themselves.

Many other ministers have agreed to Athawale's suggestion for the two parties to hold talks and make efforts to maintain the alliance. Well, Shiv Sena has not yet responded to Athawale's statement.

Lately, Uddhav Thackeray blamed BJP for losing contact with the poor and also hinted towards breaking its alliance with the NDA.
