BJP has announced the names of 4 candidates for the Karnataka Legislative Council elections. Pratap Simha Nayak, MTB Nagaraj, R Shankar and Sunil Valyapure have been declared candidates for BJP. However, the party did not give tickets to H. Vishwanath.

The tenure of seven members of the Karnataka Legislative Council, elected by the members of the legislative assembly concerned, ends on June 30, for which elections are to be held on June 29. While announcing the election date, the Election Commission said that keeping in mind the transition of Corona, instructions have been given to follow all instructions in this regard. On behalf of the Commission that voting will be held on the evening of 29 June.

Congress had announced the nomination of senior leader BK Hariprasad and outgoing member Nasir Ahmed in the Legislative Council elections in Karnataka. Significantly, the name of Hariprasad's candidature has been announced because his term as a Rajya Sabha member ends on June 25 and he has also been Congress general secretary. The same, voting for the election will be held on June 29 and the last date for filing nomination papers is June 18. There are speculations that the BJP is in a position to win four of these seven seats, while the Congress may get two and JD (S) one.
