Udaipur: Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of benefitting from the riots while instigating them.

The Chief Minister stated: "The RSS-BJP is responsible for all of the recent riots in various states. The party that benefits from riots is the one who starts them. Is Congress gaining from the riots? They are simply defaming us. Why would Congress want to cause riots? Their aim is Hindutva. They use polarising politics to win elections."

Gehlot questioned the BJP, alleging that it sought votes in the name of Hindutva, if Hindu voters will constantly vote for them despite "inflation and unemployment." "Out of the 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP did not field a single Muslim candidate. What message is being given to the world's countries? By polarising in the name of Hindutva, you are getting voters. How long will Hindus vote in your favour? Inflation exists. There is no work available. There is also a tense vibe present "he said.

Despite his demand for an investigation, the Chief Minister slammed Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that no probe into the violent episodes was ordered by the Centre to "reveal the reasons behind the rioting."
