Kochi: E Sreedharan, popularly known as BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate and 'Metroman' in Kerala assembly elections, launched the campaign on Monday. He said that the BJP is fighting this election on the issue of development and claimed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will be formed in Kerala after the April 6 assembly elections. Sreedharan accused the state's current Left Democratic Front (LDF) government of being involved in corruption, scams, and nepotism.
''The CPI (M) government is not committed to the development of the state. His focus is on the development of the party," said 88-year-old Sreedharan, who has been officially fielded by the BJP from the Palakkad seat. Attacking CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Sreedharan alleged, 'He is a good CM for his party, but not for the state.'
Sreedharan alleged that the LDF government did nothing for the development of the state in the last five years. He also alleged that the CPI(M)-led government did nothing to set up a major railway line between Nilambur-Nanjangud, which is to connect Nanjangud in Karnataka with Nilambur in Kerala. He alleged that nothing was done to lay the train from Guruvayur to Thirunavaya even after getting the approval.
