New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made Telangana Liberation Day on Tuesday (September 17) by hoisting the national flag tricolor. With this, the BJP has started trying to create a wave of nationalism in the state. At the party office in Telangana, Union Ministers Prahlad Joshi and G. Kishan Reddy hoisted the tricolor. BJP had demanded the TRS government of the state to declare September 27 as 'Telangana Mukti Divas'.

At the same time, in this regard, BJP has also demanded this from Telangana Governor Tamilisai Sundararajan. In the coming days, the BJP will also organize a program in the state regarding Liberation Day. Actually, BJP believes that the country got independence on 15 August 1947, but Hyderabad merged with India on 17 September 1948. The merger took place after the police action on the orders of the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabh Patel. At that time, the Nizam of Hyderabad was not getting ready for the merger. Due to which the central government had to take military action.

A total of 109 hours of operation from 13 September to 17 September 1948 for the merger of Hyderabad on behalf of the army was named 'Operation Polo'. Finally, on 17 September, the Nizam of Hyderabad surrendered with his army. After which Hyderabad was successfully merged with India.
